‘Impact of light and reflective glass on bird migration in New York’ by Héctor Cordero

New York is an excellent place for bird watching and photography as it lies in the Atlantic migratory pathway.

Every year, during spring and autumn, the city is home to more than 200 species. Each season allows you to observe a unique and special diversity. However, due to skyscrapers with reflective glass and illuminated at night, many of these birds see their migration cut short.

In collaboration with several conservation associations and a rehabilitation centre in Manhattan, Héctor Cordero, a biologist, bird guide and photographer of Extremaduran origin, tries to give visibility to the problem and provide friendly solutions for fauna and the environment. He is the author of the book ‘Central Park. Four Seasons of Birlife’.
