Poisoning of wildlife is one of the main conservation problems for a large number of species across the world. There are two main routes of poisoning: intentional and accidental or secondary, through food chains or other routes.

Intentional poisoning is a very old activity and even encouraged by the authorities, although it is currently prohibited and considered a crime in many countries. Despite this, it remains one of the main threats.
